Plein air France

Marco Krauwinkel gives a workshop plein air painting in France the Gers van Monday May 6th to Friday May 10th, 2024

Plein air painting

Painting outside, also called Plein air painting, is a great challenge and, in addition to a wonderful training in the outdoors, always provides new insights into your painting process! Master landscape painters swear by this adventurous way of painting because it is precisely the own unique experience that you add to a painting.

Experienced teacher and landscape painter Marco Krauwinkel takes you into the world of landscape painting in the southern part of France, the Gers

Structure of the workshop

  • All kinds of different ways to determine a fascinating composition in a short time

  • Learn to use different methods such as the sight-size method and compose your own composition

  • You will learn how to use and combine perspective in different ways

  • You also learn to take a number of natural laws into account in order to achieve a true-to-life painting.

  • How to deal with changing daylight in the landscape and on your palette.

  • How to best observe a complex, large landscape and translate it into beautiful, clear landscapes in simple steps brushstrokes on your canvas.

  • The foundations and relationships between tonality, drawing skills and color are all discussed in detail.

There are many beautiful medieval villages located on hills (bastides) in the area.

There are 6 guest bedrooms and 4 guest bathrooms in the main house plus rooms in a Bed and Breakfast nearby. The price for accommodation incl. meals, wine, coffee etc. for 7 days  and  6 nights is €500,- including VAT per person.

The Gers can be reached by plane from Rottterdan (Transavia to Bergerac), Amsterdam (KLM to Toulouse) or Eindhoven (Transavia to Bordeaux). By car the journey takes approximately 13 hours. You can travel by train via Paris to Agen (all T.G.V.) in about 6 hours.
